Starting from 2021, I.I.S.S. “ETTORE MAJORANA” has taken part to the project Erasmus+ DIVOC VS COVID – KA227-2C385632-EN “Discovering The Incredible Virus Of Creativity” about art, architecture and traditions along the most important European pilgrimage routes.
Inspired by the visit and photo hunting at the Museum of Folklore in Seville the students of I.I.S.S. “ETTORE MAJORANA” and their friends of the “Falcone e Borsellino” School produced an exhibition to illustrate the permanences of traditions in the Mediterranean area.
The exhibition was opened on 30 November 2022 at I.I.S.S. “ETTORE MAJORANA” during the international meetig with Polish Partners (“Zespót Szkót Nr1 W Krašniku” Krašnik) of the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development PROJECT 2021-1-PMU-4349 “Conscious Mathematics”.
The exhibition was relocated to “Falcone and Borsellino” School during the last mobility of the project DIVOC (24-28 October 2022) and presented to the Spanish and Portuguese partners.
HIGLIGHTS ON THE EXHIBIT
The term ‘cultural heritage’ includes monuments and also intangible heritage such as traditions or living expressions such as oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, festive events, practices concerning nature and the universe, knowledge and skills to produce traditional crafts.
While fragile, intangible cultural heritage is an important factor in maintaining cultural diversity in the face of growing globalization. An understanding of the intangible cultural heritage of different communities helps with intercultural dialogue, and encourages mutual respect for other ways of life.
The purpose of the exhibition is to invite people to discover, through its wealth of heritage, the persistence of common elements in the Andalusian, Apulian and Portuguese districts.
The exhibits is only a starting point to approach the territories where the partners of the Erasmus+ Project “DIVOC VS COVID” live.
“Hopefully we can just Iive this heritage instead of having to preserve It” (Ralaet Vlllardon – cheesemaker, Los Montes, Granada).
